Sustainability

Our Commitment to Sustainability

Reduced environmental impact and energy conservation are core pillars of the Dymax mission. Over the last 40 years, Dymax light-curable materials and curing equipment have become the industry standard for fast, efficient and environmentally conscious assembly. Dymax products are readily replacing technologies that contain hazardous ingredients, produce waste, or require higher amounts of energy to process.

Innovation in Product Development

At Dymax, our passion for tackling technological challenges and forward-thinking approach has set us apart since our inception. We are driving sustainable development through continuous innovation, taking our social, ecological, and economic responsibilities seriously.

For example, we developed a range of bio-based oligomers whose backbone requires 40 percent less GHG emissions compared to petrochemical alternatives and we continue to increase the use of polymeric stabilizers that avoid potentially concerning preservatives (e.g. meHQ and BHT).

Product Sustainability Credentials

In several ways our products support more efficient and environmentally friendly manufacturing processes for our customers.

Adhesives

  • 100% solids – no added solvents, requires less energy to ship, safer to use.
  • One-part materials offer many processing advantages including speed, reliability and reduced waste.
  • Patented technologies, like See-Cure and Ultra-Red make in-line inspections fast and easy, reducing defects.
  • On-demand, fast cure eliminates the need for thermal chambers, reducing energy use and
    manufacturing footprint.
  • Innovative new materials - bio-based.

Equipment

  • All electric – no burning of hydrocarbons, no GHGs, VOCs, HAPs, or TAPs to the environment.
  • Production centers can run more equipment off existing transformers and consume less electricity from the grid.
  • No thermal ovens – reduces heat dissipation requirements.
  • Instant on/off – less energy consumption.
  • Longer service life that virtually eliminates bulb replacement.
  • Eliminates mercury – no harmful waste stream.

Carbon Emissions

Recently, we conducted a comprehensive inventory of our business carbon emissions and identified three primary sources: stationary combustion from burning natural gas and fuel oil, purchased electricity, and business air travel. In total we calculated approximately 1,400 emissions in MT Co2e. Here is a breakdown of our emissions:

ActivityPercentage of total

Scope 1
Mobile emissions – company operated vehicles
Stationary combustions – natural gas and heating fuel
Process emissions from manufacturing

44%

Scope 2
Purchased electricity from grid

Scope 3

We look forward to providing updates on a regular cadence moving forward. Stay tuned for updates on our progress and initiatives.
