LED-Curable, Plastic-Bonding Adhesive for Catheter Assembly
MD® 215-CTH-UR-SC catheter adhesive bonds in seconds upon exposure to light energy and is LED curable at 385 nm. The product is ideal for rapid assembly of next-generation catheter designs using Nylon 12 and PEBA. Formulated with Encompass® technology that combines Dymax patented See-Cure color change and Ultra-Red® fluorescing technologies, 215-CTH-UR-SC provides secure bonds with the added benefits of easy cure confirmation and post-cure bond-line inspection. The product’s bright blue color transitions to colorless upon sufficient exposure to light, indicating full cure. 215-CTH-UR-SC catheter adhesive also fluoresces bright red under low-intensity black light (365 nm), contrasting extremely well on plastics that naturally fluoresce blue, allowing manufacturers to incorporate automated or manual inspection to ensure complete and accurate placement of the adhesive. Typical applications include balloon/lumen, hub/lumen, marker band adhesive, and -manifold bond joints. Recommended bondable substrates include Nylon 12, PC, PVC, ABS, and PET, as well as PEBA.
