New Ash Content Study

The term “ash” represents the impurities leftover after a sample decomposes at high temperatures and can be undesirable in certain applications that require the extreme heating of a material. Two applications in particular, investment casting and ceramic 3D printing, depend on low-ash content for 3D-printed parts that require fine detail and high resolution. Our technical experts recently studied the effects of ash content in 3D printing applications. Fourteen BomarĀ® oligomers were tested using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) to determine the amount of ash left after exposure to high temperatures.
