Senior Chemist, R&D, Singapore
We seek an innovative, customer-centric, and results-focused individual to join our talented team as a Senior Chemist. Based out of our Singapore location, you will be expected to develop new adhesives and coatings that will contribute to the growth of the company.
About the job:
- Complete new product development projects to meet customer needs and timetables by performing hands-on laboratory experiments and delegating work to technicians
- Validate the performance of the new products by hands-on developing test methods and performing physical property tests
- Ensure that customers, Business Development, and Application Engineering have all technical information to properly use the new products by providing effective presentations and test reports
- Lead the transfer of developed products from laboratory to production by planning scale-up experiments, drafting SOPs, and providing technical expertise
- Assess new product needs by interacting with Business Development, Sales, Application Engineering, and customers
- Generate new product ideas by interacting with Business Development, and by following chemical literature
- Conduct research on structure/property relationships of potential new products by staying current with patent/chemical literature and demonstrating understanding of company know-how
- Solve customer problems by interfacing with Manufacturing, Quality, and Application Engineering
The ideal candidate:
- Master of Science Degree, or higher, in Chemistry or Polymer Sciences
- MS with 7+ years of formulation development experience in engineering adhesives (preferably in UV-curable technologies) in industry, or PhD with 3+ years of formulation development experience in the same
- Team player, able to adapt into the local R&D structure and culture. Motivated and self-starter, able to handle challenging technical projects
- Experience in heat and moisture cure chemistries desirable
