Quickly Bond Substrates Used in Medical Device Manufacturing

The MD® “1000” series of multipurpose medical device adhesives utilizes UV/Visible light to quickly bond substrates used in medical device manufacturing. Fast cure increases product throughput, decreases work in progress, and also helps to reduce overall assembly process costs.

The products are solvent free, ISO 10993 approved, and well suited for bonding a wide variety of substrates, even UV- inhibited and tinted plastics. No mixing is required because all of these general-purpose adhesives are one-part materials.

Inline inspection of the bond lined is possible with the fluorescing chemistry formulated into many Dymax medical-grade adhesives. After cure, the materials glow bright blue or red when exposed to a low intensity black light to enhance the function of automated vision equipment for high speed, high volume production. Formulations are also available with secondary heat cure capability for shadow areas, patented See-Cure technology for cure confirmation, and Ultra-Red® fluorescing for easy visual quality inspection.

The materials are ideal for joining medical plastics together, as well as adhering metal to glass and metal to plastic. Multipurpose medical device adhesives are also compatible with gamma, EtO, and E-Beam sterilization.

See-Cure Technology

Adhesives formulated with patented See-Cure technology are bright blue in the uncured state for simple confirmation of material placement onto substrates. When cured with sufficient light energy, the products transition from bright blue to colorless indicating full cure. See the adhesive dispensed, see it cure, and easily confirm complete cure!

Ultra-Red Fluorescing Technology

Materials formulated with patented Ultra-Red fluorescing technology are especially effective for bonding plastics, like PVC and PET, which naturally fluoresce blue. The Ultra-Red fluorescence does not absorb the same wavelengths as those used to cure the adhesive, resulting in faster, deeper cures when compared to blue fluorescing products. The Ultra-Red fluorescing compound is exclusive to Dymax, and when measured, produces a unique energy peak not reproducible by other fluorescing compounds. This offers manufacturers the ability to assemble or mark their products so they can be positively identified.
